Escape room
Of Mice and Men Escape Room A: The New Hand, Ch. 1-2, Digital and Paper
A quick escape room for the first two chapters. Two locks, about fifteen minutes of solving, every answer a plot fact from the text, and an illustrated combination padlock your students turn by the dials.
Run it on its own after Chapter 2, as a Digital Room or a Paper room. Nothing else from the unit is needed, and you can skip it without losing anything.

WHAT YOUR CLASS DOES
Students work in teams on a short, self-contained puzzle early in the unit. Two locks, and every answer is a plot fact from the text. One lock is an illustrated combination padlock: students turn the dials, in the same 1930s look as every other room in the unit. A reflection page closes the room.
HOW IT RUNS
- When: after Chapter 2.
- Time: about 25 minutes in class with the reflections.
- Prep: about 15 minutes. The room's Read First sheet gives the timing and hint steps; the answer key and check cards are separate teacher pages. Not print and go.
- Honors and Academic classes use the same room.
PRINT AND DIGITAL
Run the Paper room from its printed pieces with no device, or play the Digital Room. The Digital Room and the host screen are web files that open offline in Chrome or Edge on Windows, and they also work in Chrome on Chromebooks.
FAQ

- Is there an answer key?
- Yes, for every form, plus check cards, in the teacher folder.
- Where are the full terms?
- In TERMS_OF_USE_TEACHER.pdf in the 00_Start_Here folder of your download.
